2025 VSWGA Senior Championship
CHAMPLAIN COUNTRY CLUB
July 8-9, 2025
The Vermont Women’s Major Season kicked off today with the Senior Amateur Championship at Champlain Country Club. The course was a bit wet from overnight rain but the precipitation stopped and spirits were high – the field of 96 women were ready to get swinging.
The Champlain Ladies showed up in force, with 9 members playing in the event, and showed us both wonderful hospitality as well as how to play great golf on their home course. Champlain’s own Andrea Brown leads the field after the first round, shooting a 6-over, 77.
In second place, and only one shot off the lead with a 78 is Gretchen White of Williston Golf Club.
There are four players tied for third place, each having shot an 80, looking to move up the leaderboard; Tiffany Maurycy of Killington Golf Course, Holly Reynolds of Copley Country Club, Kristin Mahoney of Neshobe Golf Club, and Reggie Parker of Ekwanok Country Club.
Five players are within 5 strokes of the lead and looking to close the gap. Shooting 81 and tied for 7th place are Karen Bisbee of Williston Golf Club, Ann O’Day of Williston Golf Club, and Elizabeth Walker of Dorset Field Club. In a tie for 10th place with 82 strokes, are Mary Brush of Burlington Country Club and Nancy Devaux of Williston Golf Club.
The Pat Job Team Cup competition is about as close as it can get with three teams going stroke-for-stroke. After one round, Champlain is in first place with a team score of 217, Kwiniaska is right on their heels with a team score of 218, and Williston is breathing down both of their necks with a team score of 219. This is one to watch folks, tomorrow’s round is going to be a real pressure cooker!
The weather looks great for Round 2 tomorrow. We hope the competitors get a good nights sleep and get stretched and ready in the morning – we know we’re going to see some low scores!
