Certain State Day events offer eligible players the option of playing from forward tees instead of regular tees. This generally reduces the per hole yardage as well as the overall course yardage. In order to play from forward tees, a golfer must meet the qualifications outlined below.
Procedure:
Courses offering two sets of tees will be noted on event registration page in Golf Genius. Golfers must select forward tees when registering and must play from the tees selected during registration or will be disqualified from the event.
The host club will work off the final tee sheet they receive from the VSWGA the day prior to the event, which indicates the specific tee each registrant selected. Tee times are not grouped by tee preference and golfers may register for specific tee times with golfers playing from different tees other than themselves.
Eligibility:
Forward tee golfers must have a handicap index equal to or greater than 25.0 at noon the day prior to the event. Should a golfer’s handicap index drop below 25.0 the day prior to the event, they will be reassigned to the regular tees and notified by email of the change in tee assignment. There is no penalty for this reassignment.
Scoring:
Golfers playing from the forward tees will have their own flight. Points will be awarded for net placement based on the number of players in the flight. There are no points awarded for gross placement in the forward tee flight.
- If there are 1-5 forward tee players, first net will be awarded;
- 6-10 players, first and second net will be awarded;
- 11 or more players, first, second and 3rd net will be awarded.
