State Day Lottery events are conducted through a registration lottery procedure established for perennially over-subscribed State Day events. The extremely popular events falling into this category for 2025 are Dorset, Manchester, Woodstock, and Vermont National.
Registration opens at 7:00 AM three Fridays prior to the event date and closes the following Thursday at 7:00 AM. Registrants will be notified of their status the day of registration closing, which will enable them to register for an alternate event, for which registration will open the following day. Those selected for the specific lottery event will be assigned tee times and their credit card charged for event.
Players not selected in the initial draw will be placed on a pending registration list and automatically confirmed should a slot becomes available. Should the maximum number of players not exceed the available tee time slots, players may be able to modify their tee time.
Registration Procedures
- Register in Golf Genius as a single, a twosome, or as a foursome. Threesomes are not permitted due to the added difficulty of finalizing the tee times.
- Indicate one or three other golfers with whom you prefer to be paired, unless registering as a single.
- Indicate the preferred tee time:
- 1 = earlier
- 2 = middle
- 3 = later
- Include credit card payment, which will not be processed until accepted into the event.
- Registrants will be placed into two tiers:
- Tier 1 will be selected first. These are golfers who were waitlisted or not accepted to play at this course the prior season.
- Tier 2 will include all other registrants (new to event or accepted to play at this course the prior season).
- Following the close of registration, all registrants will be notified of their status for the event. Those accepted into the event will be assigned pairings and tee times.
Please note:
- Regardless of size, groups will be placed into Tier 2 unless everyone on the team is a Tier 1.
- Lottery numbers are assigned by team, not by individual. For instance, a single, a twosome, or a group of four is each assigned one number in the lottery. This ensures that individual registrants have the same odds of winning as each group.
- All registrants will be placed on the pending registration list until the drawing. Lottery winners will be moved from pending status to the tournament roster and then paired by preferred tee time slot (1, 2, or 3). Preferred tee time slots are not guaranteed.
- Registration fee will not be processed unless/until a registrant is moved from pending registration to the tournament roster.
