Linda Jane Parson-Bio
Golf has been a part of my life from the very beginning, 67 years ago! It was a family love affair as my parents, my sister & brother were very accomplished golfers.
My sister Dorothy Ann Cleary was my inspiration to join VSWGA where I have been a member for over 24 years. She taught me to try to give back to the game in some way in appreciation for what the game has given me in my life.
My brother Donald became a lifetime member of the PGA, and experienced a few years on the tour. I had the honor to caddy for him. His mental toughness and perseverance helped inspire my dedication for the game of golf and self-improvement. My brother’s son is a PGA Professional out of the Philadelphia Chapter.
My working career started at American Airlines as a flight attendant, followed by the restaurant business, then onto developing a successful Avon territory, recruiting over 250 female reps that I trained and worked with to develop successful business models for themselves and their families. I finished my career with a long run of 39 years in the dental business, sales, management, and in the end, traveled the world training sales people, lecturing on Infection Control and OSAP and ADA Guidelines as I set myself up for retired living.
Currently residing in Stratton Vermont, in the warm months playing at Haystack Golf Course where I had been the VSWGA club rep and director at large, and have led the women’s ladies league into three years where I started with 18 ladies and we are now up to 62! This year I helped coach golf with the Mount Snow Bluebirds Adaptive Sports Program to the Olympics Fall Games.
This past year I became President of the VSWGA. In 2021 we had more than 411 members, and 79 of them are new members. We had 2,691 state day participants throughout the season. My term is extended for the next 2-3 years!
Have also been rating courses, giving me a better understanding of a golf course layout. And right now, working on getting my “Official Rules Certificate” through VGA.
In my spare time I have two lake houses that I rent out with VRBO in Woodford Vt.
During the winter months I retreat to Sun City Center, Florida where presently I am the Captain of Scepter Golf Course ladies league, event coordinator, and am active in five golf leagues over the course of the winter: a traveling league; Mid-Gulf, where I am the corresponding secretary, and pace of play is a strong issue; State days; and majors with FSGA and LPGA.
My love of golf is pervasive and my passion for sharing this love of the game with beginners, newcomers to competitive, “Fun” golf, and established golfers alike is endless. My hopes are to share my experience and energy to bring VSWGA to be Vermont strong for the next 8 years until we are 100 years old.
