VSWGA CALENDAR AND MEMBERSHIP
Visit https://vswga.org/calendar/ for the current lineup of State Days, Majors and Invitationals around the state. There are a few changes to our State Day calendar due to past weather cancellations.
Note that the Fall Awards Classic, being held on Sept 16 at CC of Barre, will open for registration on Aug 8 at 7am. The tournament is a 2-Person Shamble, i.e. the team will choose the best drive and each player will play their own ball from there until it is holed out. See our handbook on Page 36 for more information.
PACE OF PLAY
Pace of Play is always on our mind. It seems to be on yours too. Fortunately we have only needed to send out six slow play letters so far this season.

GREEN MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE
Are you familiar with the VSWGA Green Mountain Challenge?
In honor of over 90 years of golf, the VSWGA is challenging its members to play many (or all) of the VSWGA member golf courses this amazing state offers. We ask that you track your participation and send in updates when you reach 15, 25, 35 and 50 courses. You will receive a VSWGA pin for reaching each milestone and your name will be included in our honor roll of players in future Member Handbooks.
See the link above or the center of the member handbook for a map and more details on how to participate. If you have reached a milestone this season, be sure to send a photo of your map to vswgaquestions@vswga.com as soon as you achieve your level so that you can be included in the 2025 tally.
BOARD POSITIONS
Have you been thinking about how you might serve the VSWGA? Perhaps as a member of the Board of Directors? We will have xxxx? vacancies this fall .The following three members are ending their terms :
- Amy Butcher ?
- Sarah Lee ?
- Frances McCune ?
So what is the first step in joining the board? Talk to anyone on the board about your interest. Reach out to xxx, submit an application to the board, then you will be put on the docket for voting at the annual rep meeting in October.
Once the board members are elected, the board themselves cooperatively determine the best position fit for everyone. Board members serve as officers (president, vice president, secretary, treasurer), as regional liaisons, or as chairs of various committees. See pages 4-6 and the inside cover of the Member Handbook for a list of positions. Board members commit to serving a three-year term, and may serve up to two consecutive terms, according to the VSWGA By-Laws.
The Board typically meets once a year in person – approximately one week after the Annual Club Rep Meeting. This year, it’s on Wednesday, October 15th, in Burlington. The board meets via conference call throughout the winter, spring and summer, and conducts other business via email.
HOLES-IN-ONE ….
Congrats to Judy Luce, Lakeside Golf Club Member, for her hole-in-one at Enosburg Falls CC State Day on July 15. Judy said her first HIO during a VSWGA event was at a State Day in Okemo about 10 years ago. This is actually her SIXTH hole-in-one!
And congrats to Kate Mitchell, Kwiniaska Golf Club Member, for her hole-In-one at Kwiniaska. She said “It helped my partner Rhonda Colvard and I win our Kwini Member-Member Match Play by one hole (won on 18th hole) and we are moving on in our bracket!” Excellent!
STATE DAY POINTS – NOW AVAILABLE IN GOLF GENIUS
Your season long State Day Points tally is now available on the main State Day Schedule and Results page on our website. Click on the “2025 Individual Season Points Standings” link at the top of the screen. How many points do you have?
If you are using the Golf Genius App, go to the Event/Member Portal/Results/Season Points.
Points are added a few days after each state day, so check each week to see where you stand!
