2023 VSWGA Senior Championship – Final Results
The 2023 Major Tournament Season opened up this week with the 58th Vermont Senior Women’s Golf Championship. With poor weather and flooding leading up to the event forcing changes in scheduling and duration, 87 women were able to come together at the Williston Golf Club to compete in a one-day, 18 hole event.
The competition was fierce with a large contingent of Williston women in the field. The regulation round ended in a tie at 4 over par (76), between Gretchen White of Williston Golf Club and Lin Culver of Neshobe Golf Club. The sudden-death tie-breaker was played on Hole 9, with Lin Culver making a birdie to win the event and take the Championship Trophy!
Third place, and only two strokes behind the leaders was Super Senior Trophy winner and low putt contest winner Mary Brush of Burlington Country Club with a score of 78. Bringing it home for Williston Golf Club was Karen Bisbee shooting an 83 and Nancy Devaux with an 85 to claim 4th and 5th respectively.
Claiming 9th place and the Legend Trophy was Reggie Parker of Ekwanok Country Club shooting an 86.
The Net Division winner was Sandy Bingham of Montague Golf Club, shooting a -4 net.
In the Pat Job Cup Team Competition, the Williston women held on to the Cup with a commanding 12 stroke margin over the second place team from Vermont National Country Club. Burlington Country Club was in a close third place only two points behind VNCC.
A special thanks to Williston Country Club for their incredible hospitality, flexibility, and support in hosting their first VSWGA Championship, especially under such difficult conditions.
Thank you to all who participated.
