Horton 4th in Futures Tour Qualifier

The Futures Tour held it's Inaugural Qualifying Tournament in Lakeland, Florida in November. This is the first time in the tour's 19 year history that a qualifying tournament has been held. Sue Horton of Essex Junction turned in a very strong performance firing rounds of 71-74-73-71 to finish in 4th place just two strokes out of the lead. This assures her of a spot in the SBC Futures Tour for the 2000 season. The top 46 players of the 244 entrants were awarded Priority 1 status while all other participants have Priority 2 status according to their finish in the qualifier.

Holly Reynolds, a former Futures Tour player, and Kiersten Allbright, this year's VSWGA runner-up, also participated in the qualifying tournament. Both players survived the 36 hole cut but missed the cut after the third round by 2 and 5 strokes respectively. They are, however, eligible to play in Futures Tour events as Priority 2 players. Holly is currently a teaching pro at The Farm in Morrisville playing only the Green Mountain National event on the Tour last year. Kiersten passed her player's ability test (PAT) last summer, but is still undecided about turning professional and may play amateur golf for another season.
