Ellen Sheffer

Past President / Director At Large

I was born and raised in New York and came to Vermont 26 years ago, by way of a stint in Germany. (IBM = I've Been Moved). We had a choice of returning to Florida, Virginia or Vermont. I told my husband he could go south, but I was going to Vermont! Heat and I don't deal well together.

I began playing golf at Rocky Ridge, and like Phyllis, my goal was to get my handicap index below 36 so that I could play state day. Then I got into playing the state tournaments and have been lucky enough to win Low Net twice - at Middlebury and at Neshobe, where I've been a member since 2000.

I was elected to the board in 2009 as a Director at Large and was elected vice president in 2010 and president in 2011.  In 2013, I became the past president.  I have been doing course ratings since 2005 and became the co-chair with Harriet Parot in 2009.  I also am co-Chair of the Rules Committee with Kathy Allbright and have been to the Rules School three times.

I have a degree as a librarian and have also worked in banks and at Vermont Teddy Bear. I'm lucky enough to be retired now and free to play golf whenever I want!
